Art Therapist in Training

Elaine Tan is an Art Therapy trainee whose practice is rooted in creativity, compassion, and a deep respect for each person’s lived journey. Born and raised in Singapore, Elaine’s lifelong love for art and craft eventually led her to start her own jewellery label and later, an art studio.

Elaine’s own experience of finding solace and meaning in art during life’s most challenging moments inspired her path to become an art therapist. Elaine’s clinical training and community work include conducting therapeutic art workshops for women and children in shelters, facilitating open studios and bedside sessions for children in hospital settings, and creating inclusive community-based art groups. Her practice is grounded in the belief that creative processes can offer a gentle yet powerful path to healing. She is especially interested in how tactile, sensory art processes can help clients gently access emotions.

Over the past seven years, Elaine has designed and facilitated art workshops that invite people of all ages to explore, play, and express themselves through art making. As a certified divorce coach and a divorced mother of three young children, Elaine brings both professional training and a lived understanding of parenting, resilience, and the courage it takes to navigate profound change, especially the complex emotions that come with family transitions, separation, and co-parenting.
