Dora Barta

Therapeutic Approach
Dora believes in the transformative power of the therapeutic alliance. Clients often describe her as someone they feel they can be entirely themselves with - sharing their most vulnerable thoughts and feelings freely, without fear of judgment. She brings warmth, empathy, and presence into her sessions, creating a space where clients can connect with their most authentic selves.
Dora’s approach integrates a range of evidence-based modalities including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Existential Therapy and Family Systems Therapy tailored to the client’s specific needs. She is also trained in Person-Centred Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy. Dora has a special interest in working with adults experiencing self-esteem concerns, anxiety, relationship difficulties, and life-stage transitions, traumatic experiences and grief.
Background
Dora holds an MSc in Sociology & Cross-Cultural Communication and is currently completing a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling Psychology at the College of Allied Educators. Before training as a counsellor, she worked in the healthcare system (NHS) in the UK, while in Singapore she ran her company providing early parenting workshops.
Originally from Hungary, she has lived in four countries across two continents and has called Singapore home for over 11 years, which makes her understand the challenges of being an expat, but can also offer a new, unique viewpoint for locals to understand themselves better.
She is a mother of two young children and sees humour and compassion - for oneself and others - as vital to protecting our mental health and navigating life. Outside of work, you might find her creating elaborate fondant cakes or organising community events.
