Therapeutic Approach
Lyndsay approaches counselling with a strong person-centered approach, believing in her client’s ability to grow and change in ways authentic to their own way of being. She is also trained in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and utilizes ACT along with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to support her clients at NEST. She is also passionate about advocating for accessible mental health support for all.
Lyndsay has experience working with clients who are navigating depression, anxiety, anger, grief, relationship concerns, stress, and trauma. She has worked previously in roles supporting staff and client’s mental well being in hospital, hospice, and non-profit settings. She holds a Masters of Science in Counselling and completed 700 hours of supervised clinical training as part of the three year masters programme.
Personal
Lyndsay grew up a small-town Texas girl but has always been drawn to the cities of the world. She has been privileged to live on three continents and, after falling for and marrying a Singaporean, has called the Little Red Dot home for eight years.
She enjoys getting lost in a good book or a bustling hawker centre (and eating all the delicious food). She values community and spending time with her family. These days she especially enjoys a good family dance party with her husband and young daughter.
Being married to a local, Lyndsay has a unique glimpse into both local and ex-pat worlds in Singapore. As a parent she understands the joys and challenges of parenthood while navigating a multicultural family. At the end of the day, though, she understands that being human is not always easy and that everyone could use a thoughtful and trained listening ear every once in a while.
